#5514 Dealing with a job loss of any kind can be difficult, and each persons reaction to unemployment is unique. However, there are some basic skills and strategies that can help people cope effectively with job loss and make the transition from unemployment to employment more efficient.
The Re-Employment Success Inventory (RESI) helps individuals explore the skills they are currently using to deal with unemployment and develop new skills to cope more effectively. In the assessment, individuals evaluate statements that relate to the stress associated with unemployment, and rate how well each statement describes them. Individuals then score their responses into essential coping categories, such as:
- Stress management
- Money management
- Social support
- Job search
- Career plan

connects individuals’ results to strategies that can help them better manage the stress of unemployment. The RESI also includes a section for developing an action plan for re-employment success.
