In this course, counselors learn how to help their alcohol and substance abuse clients in the recovery process.

Detailed Description
The underlying assumption of this 10-hour home study course is that chemically dependent people can change their value system, and that making appropriate changes in values can increase their chances of enjoying long-term sobriety and help them avoid relapse.
Sponsored by Transformations Enterprises, this course teaches counselors how to help alcohol and substance abuse clients identify and clarify their values; select and internalize new, more positive values; and help them prioritize their values in a way that will more effectively support their recovery.
At the end of the course, counselors will be able to effectively:
- Help alcoholics and substance abusers identify and clarify specific values that keep them from fully accessing treatment and obtaining long-term recovery
- Help clients identify and focus on values that will support the recovery process
- Help clients prioritize their values hierarchy in a way that will lead to long-term recovery and help them avoid relapsing back into active chemical use
