National summaries are given in a table format, which offer facts about personnel, use of jail and detention center space, inmate programs, and expenditures.

Each state's list of facilities is preceded by a comprehensive one-page statistical summary, offering vital information on the number of adult detention facilities in each state and the movement and distribution of populations.

This edition lists the names, addresses, administrators and telephone/fax numbers for approximately 4,000 facilities. It also includes vital facts about staffing numbers, capacity, total population, and recent construction. Also gives agency website and e-mail addresses.
