Susan Maltz and Barbara Grahn

Susan Maltz has over 20 years experience in education and business as a teacher, writer, career counselor, and training specialist. Having a master's degree in Counseling, with a specialization in Career/College Counseling, she has extensive training interpreting the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Career Architect, Skill Scan, and many other assessments. She has developed and led career workshops for organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past ten years.
At present, Susan is a career management consultant. Previously, she was a career counselor in the Career Development Center and Training & Organizational Development at Stanford University.
Her current book with co-author Barbara Grahn is a result of the numerous inquiries received from high school counselors. She hopes A Fork in the Road will help young people pursue their career passions.
Barbara Grahn has 13 years experience as a training, organizational, and communication specialist at Stanford University where her work included writing and designing curricula to help staff develop their careers, writing web-based training, and designing comprehensive training programs. She also spent over a decade as a program director, teacher, and writer. One of her online courses, "How to Recruit Applicants," won a Cinema in Industry International (CINDY) award in 2001.
Barbara has a master's degree in Public Administration, B.A. in Human Resources Management, and extensive training in art and design. She is also certified to administer various career assessments such as the Career Architect and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. Her varied careers ranging from a ski instructor, graphic designer, to occupational therapist are examples of how young people can mesh their skills and abilities to create jobs they love.
Currently, she is a human resources consultant and artist with a passion for travel. In 2004 she published a second career-related book, Just Around the Corner: A Baby Boomer's Guide to a Career or Job Change. Recently, she turned her attention to children's fiction with her first novel, Brycee and the Dragon From Thor.
The authors reside in Burlingame and Palo Alto, CA.
