Detailed Description
Managing day-to-day skills is a challenge for individuals who are leaving treatment or a corrections setting. This program has been updated to provide treatment that helps clients manage those critically important daily challenges.
Each topic, listed below, includes a program DVD plus a CD-ROM containing a Facilitator Guide, Client Workbook, and pamphlet. All of the downloadable materials on the CD-ROM are reproducible. You'll no longer need to order additional copies. Copyright 2009.
Each topic can be purchased separately (one DVD and one CD-ROM) for $210.00. The complete program for $1,170.00.
Topics are:
- Looking for Work
Guides clients through the basics of creating a resume and searching for a job. Activities help clients identify their individual skills and abilities, establish priorities, and learn where and how to look for a job.
Also includes tips on filling out job applications, interviewing, and how to handle job stress during recovery.
- Making Decisions
Clients learn how to make decisions that correspond to their lifelong recovery objectives. Activities encourage them to distinguish between needs and wants, establish life priorities, list and evaluate options, and recognize when to seek help.
- Managing Money
Clients learn how to explore their relationship with money, change their thinking about it, and understand the benefits of budgeting.
Exercises help clients determine the factors that might be preventing them from making wise financial decisions. Activities include creating a budget and balancing a checkbook.
- Refusal Skills
Teaches clients to identify potential alcohol or other drug-using situations and use refusal skills to maintain their sobriety. Also teaches relapse prevention strategies that are based on increased self-awareness.
- Values and Personal Responsibility
These key concepts in recovery are explained here. Also explores the relationship between a client's personal values and behaviors, and illustrates the resulting payoffs or consequences.
At the end of this program, clients will be able to identify their values, take responsibility for their behaviors and recovery actions, and understand how to create a manageable, sober life.
- Hygiene and Self-Care
Helps clients understand the link between hygiene, health, and self-esteem; learn how to maintain personal hygiene; identify health and hygiene problems; and learn where to get help for health-related problems.
