Detailed Description
By Rosetta Oliver
After months of treatment, incarceration, or both, most clients believe they have the tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is difficult to help them understand that walking out of a treatment facility or prison is just the beginning of their journey, certainly not the end. Some inmates will tell you, "I've been locked up for a while. I didn't use while I was inside, so I know I won't use when I go home," but this is not usually the case.
In this DVD, Rosetta Oliver explains that when an individual is placed in a structured environment for any period of time, it is vital to explore the transition from that structured environment back to the community.
She discusses the fact that preparation for release should be communicated long before the client is released, because not being prepared for the many issues involving community re-entry can set the client up for failure. This failure will impact families, relationships, and employment.
Understanding the lessons taught in this program will enhance the re-entry process and set clients up for success instead of failure.
