The "Anns" are authors of Performance Reviews, Empowered Careers (2002) and two other books, The Career Portfolio™ for Professionals and The Career Portfolio™ College Edition™ published by Day-Timer®, Allentown, Pennsylvania. They have also designed Work and Play®, Transitions©, and The Job Change Toolkit©, a series of lively, colorful, edu-taining career and employee development materials, that have been used by major corporations such as Nestles, UPS, Nordstrom, PacifiCare, Northern Trust Bank, and Aerospace Corporation.
As the principal of Coil and Associates, Ann Coil has over 20 years experience helping individuals and organizations with career development issues. She has coached hundreds of individuals to choose new careers, conduct effective job searches, and manage and advance the career they already have. Her practical, hands-on approach has helped organizations retain their talent, match people to the right job, and improve morale and productivity.
The media have sought her expertise as well. She has been quoted in Forbes, Working Woman, Savvy, Shape, Self, and Toastmaster magazines. She has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register. As a lively and engaging speaker, she has been a conference and commencement keynoter and is a frequent speaker at professional groups and associations. She has been active in her community, serving on numerous boards such as YWCA, Orange County Marine Institute, Women in Business, and University of California—-Irvine's advisory committee for The Women's Opportunities Center. She received the 1994 Orange County Boy Scouts' Learning for Life Women of Excellence Award for Business.
Ann, an innovator in the field of career counseling, realized the critical need for sound and creative career counseling years ago as Coordinator of the Undergraduate Reading and Study Skills Program and graduate instructor at California State University, Fullerton. Inspired by the need she saw in seasoned professionals as well as young adults, she launched her career consulting firm in 1980 and found her own exciting, rewarding, and fulfilling career helping other people find theirs.
Ann Hult Crowell has over 25 years experience in communications, marketing, and advertising. She worked with major nationally recognized ad agencies until she founded her own firm, Crowell McKay, Inc., in 1971. As the President and CEO, she grew Crowell McKay into one of the five largest advertising and PR agencies headquartered in Orange County, California.
She has won over 75 national and international awards for her work, including numerous LA Ad Club Belding Awards, MAME, and New York Ad Club Andy Awards. Through strategic marketing, cutting edge creativity, and her keen sense of employee development and motivation, her firm developed marketing and communications programs for clients including: Nordstrom, Doubletree Hotel, Homart Development Company, Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company, Tucson Visitor and Convention Bureau, Public Transit Districts, Trammell Crow Company, and W.R. Grace.
Known for her lively and entertaining style, Ann has been a frequent speaker for business and professional groups. She has also conducted courses, seminars, and lecture series on marketing, strategic planning, advertising, and communications for local college and universities.
Ann taught one of the first courses for women in business at the University of California--Irvine which was later condensed into a seminar series that she presented at other UC campuses, as well as out of state universities. She is an honors graduate of the University of Arizona where she received a BS/BPA degree in marketing and finance.
