We have put together this relapse prevention program for offenders by Terence Gorski. Each component can be purchased separately. $39.50 for the program (one copy of each of the four parts described below).

  • Part One: An Executive Briefing for Judges and Policymakers (1995, $9.00)
This manual, by Terence Gorski, provides an executive briefing for state alcohol and drug abuse treatment directors, judges, state legislators, and criminal justice system program planners, administrators, and directors.
It contains relevant statistics on the incidence of relapse and the relationship between alcohol and drug abuse and the return to criminal behavior. It briefly overviews the relapse prevention principles and procedures used in The Relapse Prevention Workbook for the Criminal Offender (see below).
It explains why relapse prevention programs are useful in preventing recidivism to criminal behaviors and builds a strong case for making relapse prevention programs readily available within the criminal justice system.
  • Part Two: A Guide for Counselors, Therapists, and Criminal Justice Professionals (1994, $12.00)
This manual, by Terence Gorski, is designed for criminal justice system workers including counselors, probation and parole officers, and other paraprofessionals who work with criminal offenders developing basic relapse prevention plans.
It provides specific instructions on how to guide a criminal offender in successfully completing The Relapse Prevention Workbook for the Criminal Offender (see below). Guidelines are presented for establishing one-on-one sessions and discussion groups.
  • Part Three: The Relapse Prevention Workbook for the Criminal Offender (1993, $16.00)
The first section of the workbook, by Terence Gorski, provides an overview of relapse prevention and its role in avoiding renewed problems with both substance abuse and criminal behaviors.
The second section provides simplified self-assessment forms for substance abuse, criminal thinking, and criminal behaviors.
The third section provides exercises for coping with warning signs that precede a return to substance abuse or criminal behaviors.
  • Relapse Warning Signs for Criminal Behavior (pamphlet, 1995, $2.50)
This pamphlet contains a warning sign list describing thoughts, feelings, and actions offenders experience before returning to alcohol or drug use or committing a crime. The warning list will help you understand how you return to criminal behavior even though you don't want to. This list describes the thoughts, feelings, and actions that offenders experience before returning to alcohol or drug use or committing a crime.
You may also order a set of 10 pamphlets for $25.00.
