Protecting You, Protecting Me: An Alcohol Use Prevention Curriculum

When elementary school children reach 6th grade, their risk for alcohol and other drug use increases. Thus educators need to reach them while they are still in elementary school, grades 1-5.
This curriculum teaches them how their brains work and how alcohol puts their brains in danger. It also equips them with safety skills, including:

  • How to refuse a ride from an adult driver who is under the influence of alcohol.
  • How to reduce the risks when there is no option but to ride with a driver who has consumed alcohol and may be impaired.
The curriculum addresses 8 topics:
  • our brain
  • growth and development
  • health and safety
  • rules and laws
  • friends
  • choices and decisions
  • media awareness
  • communication (especially with adults)
Program materials for each grade level include a binder with a curriculum, a fidelity checklist, a scope and sequence document, and parent materials. There are five grade level options. Choose the one you prefer, in the Product Options box above.
